Automatic Door Lock Not Working
Single door doesn t work when a single door won t work any longer it is most likely a bad actuator motor inside the door.
Automatic door lock not working. Like the power door lock switch the power door lock actuator can malfunction due to the large amount of use that it gets. Symptoms of a failing door lock actuator door lock actuators are made in two styles. For vehicles equipped with door lock cylinders the door can still be opened using the key. To unlock the doors the switch reverses the polarity of the voltage applied to the solenoid.
Solenoid and dc motor. Power door locks do not function. If the lock tries to move then the problem could be a frozen lock mechanism or a faulty solenoid. Actuator usually to blame for broken power locks.
Again if one door doesn t work but others do the problem could be with the door lock solenoid. This is the motor that controls the locking rod. Just make sure the key is on. Power door locks can break down over time because of a worn out actuator.
Replacing it may require removing the car door panel. Each door has its own actuator. If the lock isn t getting power hold the lock switch either up or down and then open and close the door repeatedly to see if the lock will work. You have a broken wire.
Quite often you will notice a buzzing sound from the door when you the locks are engaged. If it works sometimes you probably have a broken wire. If the power door lock relay fails it will cut off power to the entire power door lock system and may cause them to not function correctly. To lock the doors the switch provides voltage to the two terminals of the solenoid.
This will require the driver to use the key to lock or unlock the doors and can disable the power door locks completely for vehicles that do not use a traditional key such as newer luxury vehicles. If the door lock actuator doesn t work with any method then the problem can be the door lock actuator itself the wiring or the control module. An inoperative power door lock can be caused by the switch solenoid wiring problem or mechanical problem within the linkage of the affected door. Power door locks that do not function are another common symptom for a problem with the door lock relay.
If the door lock actuators fail they will disable the power door lock feature from working. Defrost the lock to check an individual lock mechanism work the door lock manually up and down or backwards and forwards in newer vehicles while using the auto lock button at the same time. The solenoid is bad.
